Revd Mavis Lynette Payne returned to glory on Wednesday 29 April 2026.

Mavis leaves behind her husband Gary and her children Emma and Iain, married to Sarah, and grandchild Genevieve. Emma and Iain have both previously been part of the CMS Victoria staff team, and Emma currently serves as a CMS missionary in France. We remember each of them in our prayers.

Mavis was instrumental in shaping the CMS Window Storytelling ministry at St Paul's Cathedral. She had a deep love for the Lord Jesus and for local and international visitors to St Paul's. Her passion was that every visitor would have the opportunity to hear the Bible stories depicted in the stained-glass windows, and through them have a personal encounter with the Jesus of those Bible stories. Mavis was an evangelist and friend.

The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, gifts be given to support the Window Storytelling ministry and continue this work that Mavis loved so much.
